A Gentlewoman’s Farm
Before
A never-ending, exposed front lawn was in need of a big, transformative “brush stroke” to enhance this impressive property.
Before
From the roadside, the property reads as an open lawn framed by woodland beyond a stone wall. While the setting is beautiful, the foreground lacks structure and interest.
After
Introducing an apple orchard and native grasses reconnects the property to its past as a working farm, and these elements are used as a recurring theme throughout the property. The irregular local stone path leads naturally to the house, while matching evergreens and a low hedge frame the entrance with a warm, balanced welcome.
After
Rows of apple trees adds rhythm and seasonal interest, while meadow grasses soften the roadside edge. A painted fence is another farming element that helps frame the property.
